In 2017, Arthritis Research UK and Arthritis Care joined forces so that we could achieve more for people with arthritis. In September 2018, we became Versus Arthritis.

As Versus Arthritis, we'll build on the best of our legacy organisations to create a movement standing with and for the 18.8 million people in the UK living with a musculoskeletal condition.

A huge challenge we share with you as healthcare professionals is pushing back against the sentiment that arthritis is ‘just a bit of pain’ or cannot be effectively managed. But we don’t accept this. That’s why we’ve taken the decision to change our name and the way we work – we’re going to be bolder, braver and more vocal in standing up against these misconceptions.

In the past, many of you have shared that you sometimes feel frustrated when helping your patients navigate the healthcare system or finding treatments or care that work for them. That’s why together we have developed a number of tools and educational resources to support you at work, by helping you develop your skills and confidence when treating musculoskeletal conditions and connecting you with like- minded people.

You’re our partners on the frontline, so help us keep learning and improving – stay frank and open, tell us your frustrations, triumphs and learnings, and together we can defy arthritis.
